Betty A. Gilson, 85, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho

Betty was born on November 12, 1940, in Gooding, Idaho, to Vernon Edholm and Erma Dyer.

Betty's early years were shaped by her education in the communities of Gooding, Rupert, and Burley. Throughout her life, she pursued her passions with dedication and zest. She had a profound love for riding horses and motorcycles, reflecting her adventurous spirit. A skilled seamstress, Betty not only sewed for herself but crafted garments for her family and many others, showcasing her generous nature and talent. Her commitment to these interests was further exemplified through her active memberships in the American Motorcycle Association and the National Rifle Association.

Family was central to Betty’s life. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Robert Layton and Jack Gilson. She leaves behind a loving family who cherishes her memory deeply: her sons John (Tanya) Layton of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Alan (Amy) Layton of Durango, Colorado; Kris Storm of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Kevin (Amy) Layton of Peoria, Arizona. Additionally, she survives by her stepchildren, Jack Gilson III of Burley, Idaho, and Jacqueline Marie Berby of Twin Falls, Idaho.

In her final year, Betty found a special friend and devoted companion with her cousin Peggy Gull. Betty’s family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Peggy for her unwavering support and kindness during that time, which meant a great deal to Betty and provided comfort throughout her journey.

Betty A. Gilson was a woman of strength, compassion, and vibrant interests. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered with great respect and love for the unique spirit she brought to her family and community.
