Brian Charles Horne was born in Pasadena, California, on June 29, 1963. He was the second child born to John Eugene and Mary Etta (Ruge) Horne. The family resided in Pasadena, Newbury Park, Bradbury, and Wrightwood, California.
Brian graduated from Duarte High School, where he played sports, was in the band, and was part of the yearbook staff. He remained close friends with many of his classmates from the graduating class of 1982, specifically the Duarte Boys. Brian worked during High School doing Pharmacy deliveries and helping out with his parents’ business, Solana Tanning Beds. Following graduation, Brian enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he received his training in Law Enforcement and Security Forces. This would serve as his life career spanning time with Mountain High Ski Resort, Westec Security, Edison Security, ADT Security, Temple City High School Security, and closing his career with the Department of Homeland Security/ Transportation Security Administration at several California Airports and lastly Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls, Idaho. Brian excelled in this field and was always a leader in training and supervision.
It was while Brian was working at Westec Security in Pasadena that he met his sweetheart, Denise (Deni). They went on their first date on September 9, 1994, and were married exactly 1 year later on September 9, 1995. Brian and Denise became very active in Band Boosters as Denise’s daughter was a member of the auxiliaries at Temple City High School. Brian loved his role as dad and loved supporting Pamela in all her activities. They lived in Temple City, Arcadia, Monrovia, and Lake Elsinore, California, before relocating to Twin Falls, Idaho, for his job transfer with the DHS/TSA.
Brian loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing, and he and Denise (Deni) attended the races annually in California and Las Vegas, Nevada. He looked forward to annual trips to Las Vegas with friends as well as trips to San Diego and, of course, to Disneyland to spend time with Pamela and her family. Brian was an avid skier and as the security Director at Mountain High Ski Resort, he often took time to get in a few runs with friends and guests.
Brian became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 31, 2015, and on June 4, 2016, he and Denise (Deni) were sealed for time and all eternity in the San Diego Temple. He served in many capacities in his wards in Lake Elsinore and Twin Falls. He loved attending the Temple and serving where he could. Brian cherished his membership and honored his Priesthood.
Brian leaves a legacy of devotion to his country, his family, and his friends. He was always ready to share his military experiences with the rising generation and encourage Service Above Self. His family was the most important thing to him, both family by blood and by love. Those who knew him knew that there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his daughter, his granddaughter, and his many nieces and nephews. He cherished those friends who also became family. The world was definitely a better place because Brian was in it.
Brian is survived by his wife of 29 years Denise (Deni), parents John and MaryEtta (Ruge) Horne, daughter Pamela Gomez (Tedrow) with her husband Fernando, Brother Mark Horne with his wife Denise (Bustos), Sisters Tracy Henry (Horne) and Joslyn Walde (Horne), and granddaughter Savannah Gomez, plus numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
