Charles Leo Solace, age 79, of Eden, Idaho, passed away at Heritage Assisted Living Center on December 16, 2022, due to medical complications. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Charles was born in Craig, Colorado on December 24,1942 to Cheston and Dolores Massey Solace. He was raised by Leonard and Dolores Rothmier. He graduated High School in Quincy, Illinois June 1960. He married Shirley May Hissung on February 27, 1975, In Fort Lupton, Colorado. He served in the Marine Corp for 3 years and 4 months. He worked for Motorola for 1 1⁄2 years. He was a Union Pipe fitter from January 1965 to January 1998. He was a foreman for 27 1⁄2 years. He was self-employed for 12 1⁄2 years as Western Area Fire Sprinkler, Inc. Charles retired in 1998. After his retirement he drove school bus for Valley School for a short time. He drove for the Detour Program, 2-3 days a week from June 1998 to August 2002. His hobbies included ranching and raising cattle. Helping friends and family driving spud trucks. He was an active volunteer with the VFW, AL, DAV and Senior Citizens center in Eden, Idaho. He served on Eden city council for 13 years. He was a board member of Overcomers Church in Jerome, Idaho for 8 years. Charles was proceeded in death by Leonard Rothmier (father), Dolores Rothmier (mother), Gordon Rothmier (brother), Randall Stutheit (son-in-law), Heidi Messick (granddaughter). Charles was survived by Shirley May Solace (wife), Letitia Stutheit (daughter), Pamela Jean Pope (daughter), Teresa Marie Caudill (daughter), Daniel Neale Messick (son), Candice Lynn Pinell (daughter), Mike (Sherrill) Rothmier (brother), Larry (Shirley) Rothmier (brother), 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. A viewing will be held December 28, 2022, from 5pm-7pm at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. Full Military honors and a celebration of life will be held June 2, 2023, from 11am-2pm at Parkes Magic Valley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to: Overcomers Church 126 1st Avenue West, Jerome, Idaho OR Silver and Gold Senior Center 210 W. Wilson, Eden, Idaho.
