Chris Poelzl brought light, laughter, and song into every room he entered. His smile could brighten even the darkest day, and his dance moves and singing were nothing short of superb. He loved Seinfeld, any good cop show, and never turned down a sweet treat—or a late-night bowl of ice cream in bed.
Chris’s childhood was far from easy, and he began self-medicating at a young age. Yet, despite the pain he carried, he lived with immense love, humor, and a heart that never stopped caring for others. In recent years, he rediscovered joy in golfing—excitedly planning for spring with his new golf cart—and often spoke about how close he felt to God. He wanted to be more involved in church and to sing his heart out in praise.
Above all, Chris was a devoted father. There was never a jump park he wasn’t up for, nor a Lego set he wasn’t ready to build. He loved all three of his children deeply, no matter the challenges life brought. He had special plans with his son Camden—teaching him to ski, sharing lessons about small engines, golf, and basketball. And our youngest, Cannon, is the spitting image of him—goofy, loving, and always testing boundaries. A little piece of Chris will always be with us in Cannon’s smile and spirit.
Chris was a man who could fix anything, always determined to make life better for those he loved. He dreamed of working from home so he could spend more time with his boys. In his final week, he went above and beyond—showing, as always, what a truly remarkable man he was. He spoke with hope about the future: family vacations, first cars, and dreams for his children. Those moments, though bittersweet, are a precious gift his family will cherish forever.
Chris often told his wife she was his number-one fan—and he was right. She never gave up on him, and he never stopped fighting. He faced his addiction with courage and determination, finding comfort and purpose in his Monday night AA group, where he encouraged others to stay strong in their sobriety.
Though his time here ended far too soon, Chris’s love, laughter, and spirit will live on in every memory, every song, and every smile shared by those who knew him. As his family says:
“Until we meet again in heaven, Daddy. Love always, Camden, Cannon, and Katie.”
