David James McClymonds, 75, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho.

David was born to William and Caryl McClymonds on July 10, 1950, at Magic Valley Hospital. He spent his early childhood in Hunt, Idaho, before his family eventually moved to Twin Falls. David graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1969.

David went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Idaho. During the later years of his studies, he raised a coyote named Wyle. His passion for the outdoors shaped both his career and his life. During summers and the early part of his 30-year career with the U.S. Forest Service, David fought wildland fires and eventually led firefighting crews. Among his favorite parts of the job were visiting schools and leading replanting projects in the South Hills with Boy Scout groups.

David would tell you that his greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life, Vickie Lynn Young. Though her time on this earth was far too short, passing away in 1995, their love and family remained at the center of his life. After her passing, David stopped doing summer fire assignments because he knew his daughters needed him present and close to home as he raised them.

David was a sweet and kind man who could often be found spending weekends searching for the best garage sale deals. He loved the outdoors in every form (fishing, hiking, hunting, and target shooting) especially when shared with his brothers. He was always quick with a joke, and although he was famously frugal, he was equally known for his generosity toward family and friends.

David survived by his two daughters, Brenna Gaines (David) and Tara Edwards (Benjamin); his brothers, Michael McClymonds (Chris) and Rocky McClymonds (Lori); and his grandchildren, Kaelynn Klinger, Eli Klinger, James Edwards, Leelynn Edwards, and Ari Gaines. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Lynn McClymonds; his parents, William C. and Caryl McClymonds; and his brother, William J. McClymonds.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11am at Rock Creek Cemetery, 3184 N 3800 E, Hansen, ID 83334.
