David William Slimp, 80, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on July 24, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Bill and Shirley Slimp. He was raised in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1963. In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served until 1969. After returning home, David met the love of his life, Lynne Frazier, and the two were married on March 12, 1971. They shared 54 wonderful years of marriage and raised two children together, Shelly and Jeff.
David was a hardworking man throughout his life. He had a paper route at a very young age and went on to become a skilled carpenter by trade. In 1988, he joined the staff at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2013. He was known as the go-to handyman for family and friends-always ready with a tool in his hand and a smile on his face. David’s craftsmanship lives on in the homes of his family and friends - from handcrafted clocks and furniture like toy boxes, desks, nightstands, and coffee tables, to sheds, shelving, and more.
David enjoyed bowling, softball, and racquetball. He loved supporting his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, never wanting to miss any big moments.
A passionate NASCAR fan, David cherished time spent at local racetracks and was occasionally part of the pit crew for his son-in-law. He also attended several NASCAR races across the country, making unforgettable memories along the way. David and Lynne enjoyed frequent trips to Bartons Club 93 in Jackpot with family and friends.
David will be remembered for his gentle smile and signature one-liners. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. His warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Shirley Slimp, and his brother-in-law, David Frazier.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne Slimp, his son, Jeff Slimp, daughter, Shelly (Rob) Powers; grandchildren Morgan (Tyler) Armstrong, Nicole (Mikey) Harpt, Kacie Slimp, and Tyson Slimp; great-grandchildren Tatum and Archie Armstrong, sisters Christine (Pat) Deja and Stephanie Alvarez, and many other family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
David requested no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Visions Hospice for the loving care they provided for David and his family.
