Douglas Lee Wright, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and an inspiring educator, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Kimberly, Idaho. He was born on August 19, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and throughout his life, he exemplified the values of service, compassion, and dedication to family.
Doug was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Navy from June 1966 until February 1970. His time in the armed forces included an 11-month deployment in Vietnam, where he had the profound honor of serving both in administrative roles and briefly on the front lines. After returning home, Doug transitioned into a life dedicated to education, earning his associate degree from the College of Southern Idaho in 1973, followed by a bachelor's degree in teaching from Idaho State University in 1975.
In May 1973, he married his forever companion, Connie Christie, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Their union was strengthened further when they were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in October 1975, surrounded by their two small children. Doug and Connie welcomed a total of three children into their family: Brent (Melissa), Bobbi (Rick), and Bryan, whose lives they filled with encouragement and support, even as health challenges prevented them from having more.
Doug dedicated over 30 years of his life to teaching in the Murtaugh School District, where he not only imparted knowledge but also served as a coach, guiding students in sports like volleyball, basketball, and golf. His passion for sports extended beyond the classroom; he was an avid sports fanatic who loved attending games to watch his children and grandchildren play. The thrill of competition resonated with him, whether he was actively cheering from the stands or passionately coaching the television screen during crucial games at home.
An ardent lover of the outdoors, Doug found joy on the golf course and relished fishing trips, where he often shared these experiences with his beloved family. He brought joy and music into the lives of those around him, frequently singing or humming tunes to his grandchildren while always keeping the atmosphere light-hearted with his signature sarcasm and humor — traits that he beautifully passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by his adoring wife, Connie Wright; his three children, Brent (Melissa), Bobbi (Rick), and Bryan; his siblings, Ken (Marylin), Kay Jeanne, Rob (Sherry), and Martin; as well as his sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss his gentle spirit and unwavering support. Doug is proceeded in death by his parents Earl Wright Jr and Alta Doris Lee, His brother-in-law William Nebeker, and his grandson Brady Otto.

As family and friends gather to honor his memory, he will be laid to rest with dignity at the Snake River Canyon National Cemetery on November 20, 2025, following a funeral service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
