IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward "Ed" Dean
Novacek
December 23, 1931 – March 28, 2026
Edward "Ed" Dean Novacek, 94, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Canyons Senior Living in Twin Falls.
Ed was born on December 23, 1931, to Tom and Vlasta Novacek of Castleford. He and his older brother, Stan, grew up on the family farm, working alongside their parents. Ed began working at Idaho First National Bank in Buhl during his high school years, graduating from Castleford High School in 1949. Ed joined the U.S. Navy on January 31, 1951, and served until December 23, 1954, upon which he returned to work at IFNB in Buhl. On March 19, 1955, Ed and Patricia Foreman were married in Boise. Sons Ron and Rick then completed their family.
Ed dedicated himself to banking for 35 years, transitioning from IFNB to WestOne Bank and finally U.S. Bank. He was a branch manager for the Wendell, Buhl, and Rupert branches. During his employment years, Ed was an active member in the Wendell American Legion, Wendell Lions Club, and the Wendell Volunteer Fire Department. In Buhl, he held several positions with the Chamber of Commerce, Buhl Rotary, and served on the board of directors for Clear Lakes Country Club. In Rupert, he was highly active in the Rupert Elks.
Ron and Rick have many memories of camping with Ed and Pat and their parents’ numerous, fun-loving friends. Their favorite fishing locations were Roseworth, Magic, and Little Wood Reservoirs. Ed was known to always include his generator to fillet the fresh caught fish with his electric knife and, also, to power his blender to produce an unknown number of margaritas! Following retirement, Ed and Pat loved their home on the golf course in Yuma, AZ, and in Twin Falls. Their hobbies included golfing, camping, and keeping a bountiful garden. Ed always planted lots of tomatoes (one year he planted 40 plants!)-enough to share all summer with his family, neighbors, friends, doctors, business associates, and anyone else who wanted some. Ed loved to tinker in the garage, creating all sorts of inventions, modifications, and improvements-some of which were a bit scary.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife; Patricia Novacek, his parents; Tom and Vlasta Novacek, father and mother-in-law; Kirby and Winifred Foreman, brother; Stan Novacek, and several extended family members.
He is survived by his sons; Ron (Stephanie) Novacek, son Rick (Anna Marie) Novacek, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and nephew Mark.
Ed’s immediate family members extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the loving care and concern provided for him during his final days. This includes Christy and Cambria at Canyons Assisted Living and, especially, Hillary with A Bridge Home Hospice.
