Elaine Gayle Foukal

Elaine Gayle Walker was born on May 17, 1942, in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ira and Winnie Walker.

Elaine attended Buhl Elementary School before transferring to Valley until her senior year. Her senior year was spent at Castleford High School, where she caught the eye of Ronald Foukal. Elaine and Ron were married in the spring of 1961 and soon welcomed a bouncing baby girl who they named Stephanie. Three years later, they welcomed a son and named him Ronny, after his father.

Elaine had a special talent for playing the piano by ear. She received a used piano for her 9th birthday and that old piano remains in the family to this day.

Elaine was a collector. She loved anything vintage and antique. She filled her home with beautiful items that each told a story and brought her so much joy. She had the ability to display her treasures so perfectly that her home resembled a museum.

Elaine loved spending time with her grandkids but was especially good at tucking them into bed. She would tuck the blankets and sheets tightly under them and would offer to read a story from the Big Book of Classic Tales or would sing a lullaby. Mrs. Mary Mack and Hey Diddle Diddle were two of the many she would sing. With elephants jumping over fences and cows hurdling the moon, she offered something quite special to her grandkids, and now, a beautiful memory.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Foukal; her little sister, Lynn Murphy; her two children, Stephanie (Robert) Johnson and Ronny (Kaitlin) Foukal; three grandchildren, Kolayna Askew, Adam Johnson, and Ashley Emfield; and her great-grandchildren, Keighan, Paityn, Zander, Kassadee, Lyla, Tanner, Layne, Adaiya, and Judy.

Elaine made yearly contributions to Shriners Hospital due to the healthcare needs of her grandchildren. To honor her, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at West End Cemetery, 1574 East Elm Street, Buhl, Idaho 83316.
