Janet Karen Newbry

October 10, 1938 — May 1, 2024

Twin Falls

Janet Newbry was born in Des Lacs, North Dakota on October 10, 1938 and passed away May 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Janet was the youngest of nine when her family moved from North Dakota to Puyallup, WA in 1942. She married Bob Newbry of Jerome, ID in 1957 and they first settled in Puyallup.  Following the birth of her first three children (all boys!), Bob and Janet relocated to Lancaster, CA in 1964 where they were finally blessed with a daughter. A few years later, they returned back to Puyallup for a couple of years and then moved back to Lancaster. Bob’s career as an Air Traffic Controller obviously kept them on the move, and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, Bob transferred and retired near his stomping grounds, Twin Falls, ID.  There they would reside for the next 45-years!  Janet’s life revolved around her family, caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Janet enjoyed camping, cooking, and family gatherings.  Especially when it came to a family game of Shanghai.  Janet held numerous employments throughout her life which included bagging turkeys (many stories there!), accounting at Magic Valley Medical Clinic, and food prep at Lighthouse Christian School.  Janet is preceded in death by her parents Melvin Shaffer and Karen Bredesen Shaffer, brothers Woodrow, Chester, Kenneth, Russell, sisters Marlene Zewe and Genevieve McCutcheon. She is survived by her husband Bob; sisters Wanda Miracle and Joyce Warden; sons Dary Newbry (Arlene), Kevin Newbry (Melody), Bob Newbry (Laura); daughter Janelle Gordon; 7-Grandchildren; and 10-Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Magic Valley Bible Church.  A celebration of Janet’s life will be held in Twin Falls with a date yet to be determined.
