Janette Grace Lamire

March 24, 1939 — November 17, 2022

Janette Grace LaMaire March 24,1939 - November 17, 2022 Mom was born at the end of the great depression and the beginning of WWII in Glenn's Falls, New York to Grace "Bessie" Hunt and Charles Joseph Wheeler. She relocated to Petaluma, California in the 1950s with her mother and siblings. She was the oldest child with John, Jane, Joan, Jesse, Barbara, and Billy to follow. In 1956 Mom met the love of her life, our father, Odiel Thatcher LaMaire, while cruising 4th St. in Santa Rosa, California. They married in September of 1957 and to that union was born 4 children; Michael Odiel LaMaire, Katheryn Elise (Ron) Corle of Twin Falls Idaho, Melinda Kay (Chris) Morton of Kalispell Montana, and Rick (Tina) LaMaire, of Salmon Idaho. Mom was a housewife until us kids were older. She then went to work as a waitress in several restaurants including the Tides Restaurant in Bodega Bay, CA famous for being featured in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. She enjoyed the small things in life including chocolate, gardening and treating herself to ice cream as often as she could. She was a kind and gentle soul and had a great love and respect for all living creatures. After living in California for 35 years, Mom and Dad retired and moved back to Salmon, ID in 1999. After dad passed away in 2015, Mom moved to Twin Falls in 2018. Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side after a long battle with alzheimers. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, several siblings, her son Michael and her husband Odiel. She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was well cherished by all of those who knew in her life and her gentle loving presence will be greatly missed in death. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
