Jerald "Jerry" L. Uker, a resident of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home on October 24, 2025, at the age of 86.
Jerry was born on October 17, 1939, in Park Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Mary Summers and Lawrence Uker. Mary and Lawrence, four years later, had Jerry's only sister, Bonnie Uker. The family then moved to Berkeley, California, where Jerry was raised and educated. Upon his graduation from Berkeley High School in 1957, he joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Hollister (DD 788). He was honorably discharged after the completion of his service.
Jerry went to work at a machine shop, where he was introduced to Sandra Walker by her father. Jerry and Sandra were married shortly after. From this union, they had six children: Jerry, Alex, Tammy, Lisa, Lonnie, and Aron. Sandra and Jerry later divorced.
Jerry then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in the 1960s, where he began working for Seven-Up, Olympia, and then Coors of Magic Valley. While he was working at Coors, he met Dorothy J. Thompson, who was working at Safeway. After a few years of getting to know each other, Dorothy invited Jerry over for dinner, and as they say, the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and Dorothy swept him off his feet. They were later married on July 7, 1982, in Filer, Idaho. Dorothy and Jerry had just celebrated their 43rd anniversary.
Dorothy and Jerry were a close but private couple who worked hard and just enjoyed each other, and built a wonderful life. In the mid-1990s, Dorothy's parents moved to Idaho, and Jerry got a new best friend and great fishing partner. Jerry and Hank used to fish almost every weekend. The boat was hooked up and ready to go at all times, so when the clock struck 7 am, they were on the way to some body of water to get the catch of the day.
Throughout Jerry's life, he was a father and a stepfather, a grandpa and stepgrandpa, a great-grandpa and a step great-grandpa, and he loved all of them in the same manner. Jerry really enjoyed his brother-in-law, Gene (Berdena) Schlaick. However, when it came to fishing, Jerry loved it the most than anything in his life.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy J. Uker, his children; Jerry (Kathy) Uker, Alex Uker, Tammy Anderson, Lisa Brown, Aron (Brandy) Uker, his sister; Bonnie Uker, his stepchildren; Sandra (Stan) Ricketts, his step-daughter-in-law; Kathryn Thompson, his sister-in-law Berdena Schlaick, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Mary (Summers) Uker Kimball, Lawerence C. Uker, his son; Lonnie Uker, his step-son, Gary Thompson, his step-grandchild; Kristy Lynn Thompson, and brother-in-law; Gene Schlaick.
In following with Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal services will be held.
