Joshua Wayne Kuehn

September 3, 2010 — May 14, 2020

Joshua “Joshie” Kuehn, born September 3, 2010 in Boise, Idaho, went to the arms of Jesus on May 14, 2020 at the age of 9. No ordinary kid, and always operating according to his own timeline, Joshie defied all of the odds from the very beginning. He was born over two months premature, weighing in at just under 3 pounds. Diagnosed with Gorlin Syndrome and exhibiting the common side effects of premature birth, he was given a 50/50 chance to live. Not letting the opportunity escape him, he emerged from the NICU a tough fighter, determined to engage the world around him in spite of his challenges. Knowing him meant being inspired and reminded of the many joys of life, like clapping when you’re happy, eating bananas (sometimes both at the same time) and snuggling up with people you love. He was quick to glance your way as you came in the room and engage you with his bright eyes and thousand-watt smile. Through the assistance of dedicated therapists and teachers, Joshie was able to rise above some of his physical limitations and was able to experience the joys of skiing and swimming. Loved and cared for deeply by his parents, Matt and Jen Kuehn, and his two older brothers, Tyler and Michael, he was provided every opportunity available and enjoyed them all. He is also survived by his grandparents, Gen and Michael Kuehn and Thom and Deborah Lansing, along with uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and so many friends. Due to the current quarantine, a memorial service to celebrate Joshie’s sweet and joy-filled life will be held later this summer. The family cannot begin to thank the amazing and talented healthcare workers who accompanied Joshie in every phase of his life. Their care and compassion for him will always be remembered and cherished. Donations in Joshua's name may be made to the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind Foundation for their Adventure Club program that gives so many amazing life experiences to Idaho kids.
