Karl Lee Harvey was born on March 31, 1940, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to George Harvey and Blanche Bethune Larrigan. He was raised in Buhl and Cobalt, Idaho, and in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served honorably in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic stationed in Europe. Upon returning home to Buhl, Lee married Sharon Roberts, with whom he raised nine children. During this time, he attended the College of Southern Idaho, where he earned an associate degree in business.

On April 30, 1992, Lee married his best friend and soulmate, Susan Johnson. Together, they shared 33 joyful years traveling the world, often bringing family and friends along on their adventures. Lee had a deep love and appreciation for Susan and often expressed his gratitude for her care and the positive influence she had on their family.

Lee was exceptionally skilled and hardworking. He built the home where his family was raised, which still remains in the family today. He later designed and built a home in Castleford for himself and Susan, specially created to allow them to bring their son Eric home and care for him. With his characteristic determination, Lee even returned to school to earn his CNA certification so he could better meet Eric’s needs. He could do anything he set his mind to.

Throughout his life, Lee worked hard to provide for his large family. He owned and operated several businesses, including urethane insulation, housing construction, and agricultural fertilization. He also served as a deputy sheriff for Twin Falls County and worked as an owner-operator truck driver. Lee taught his children the value of hard work and self-sufficiency, passing his skills to his sons and encouraging his daughters to pursue their education. He loved traveling, camping, boating, road-tripping, and snowmobiling, and was personable and well-liked (most of the time!).

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Troy Harvey; his son-in-law, Rocky VanSickle; and his brothers, Craig Miller and Bob Harvey.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Harvey of Castleford, Idaho; sister, Peggy (Terry) DeHaas of Filer, Idaho; brother, Wade (Linda) Miller of Buhl, Idaho; daughter, Karla (John) Ferrulli of Stephens City, Virginia; son, Todd (Lisa) Harvey of Buhl, Idaho; son, Kip Harvey of Kuna, Idaho; son, Eric Harvey of Twin Falls, Idaho; son, Christopher (Shelly) Harvey of Mackay, Idaho; daughter, Kristen (Philip) Jenkins of Mesa, Arizona; daughter, Buffy (Russell) McCoy of Buhl, Idaho; and son, Sam (Shauna) Harvey of Hyde Park, Utah. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
