IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karla J.
Haskins
September 12, 1943 – March 3, 2026
Karla Jean Haskins, 82, of Twin Falls, Idaho, went to her eternal rest on March 3, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Karla was born on September 12, 1943, at Twin Falls, Idaho to Elizabeth “Beth” (Bankhead) and Frank Hafer. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Cecil “Ray” Haskins, and she passed just five days before his birthday, March 8. We are sure she couldn’t endure another year of celebrating without him.
Karla’s family moved to Fremont, California, as a young girl. She was the oldest of three girls and was a self-proclaimed daddy’s-girl from the start. Her favorite thing was riding shotgun in his truck as he completed his commercial truck route. She joined him as often as she could, and the two developed a deep and loving bond. She was devastated when starting school interfered with their time on the road. Many years later, after finishing her first year of high school, the family moved an hour away from her beloved school. So, her father offered to drive her every day, each way, which gave them the chance to create even more memories chatting in the truck. But her father only had to make the drive for one year before Karla finally accepted a young man’s persistent offers to drive her himself—a young man named Ray, who quickly became the love of her life.
Karla and Ray fell head over heels for each other. They were married in Carmel, California on October 5, 1963, and dreamed of moving to Idaho to continue the rest of their lives together. They found a piece of land in the country outside of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Ray, a skilled carpenter by trade, got to work building their home himself. This became their forever home and a central gathering place for Karla’s immediate and extended family. They raised their children, Becky and Scott. They raised horses, dogs, pigs, chickens, and just about anything else their granddaughter, Karlie, wanted. They built a beautiful life on those five acres.
Karla worked at Scholes and Olmstead Dermatology for 30 years and likely would have won Twin Falls’ Miss Congeniality if such a title existed. She was loved by so many because she loved them first. She had a natural gift for caring for others and truly delighted in making sure the people she loved had everything they needed. She was endlessly generous with her time, energy, and love.
She was a skilled painter and dedicated many years to perfecting her craft. She was extremely talented and even more humble. Karla always saw the beauty in life, despite enduring a difficult hand. She battled many health issues for decades with extraordinary strength. She was known for her quiet toughness, her unwavering grace, her infectious laugh, and never once complained of any burdens. That resilience only deepened her compassion and care for others. She was a dedicated wife, an incredible mother, a phenomenal grandmother, and an obsessed dog-mother to a spunky mini goldendoodle named Poppie.
She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Though she is gone, her love, generosity, and quiet strength will remain with those who knew her.
Karla is survived by her daughter; Becky Haskins, her son; Scott (Cherie) Haskins, her granddaughter; Karlie Haskins and many nieces and nephews.
Karla is preceded in death by her husband; Cecil “Ray” Haskins, her parents; Elizabeth and Frank Hafer, her sisters; Frances “Fran” Hafer Smith and Connie Hafer Misenhimer.
The family would like to deeply thank Dr. Ficklin, Dr. Ward, and the many caregivers at Bridgeview Estates and Hospice Visions.
In keeping with Karla’s wishes, no formal services will be held, but the family asks that you wear her favorite color, blue, on her birthday-September 12.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family in the guestbook section below.
