Obituary

Lorie L. Ellis, 57, of Kimberly, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her home in Kimberly, Idaho. Lorie was born on April 23, 1968, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Jacque Pierce and Melvin Van Buren.

Lorie was raised in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1986. She then followed the calling of her nurturing spirit and received her bachelor's degree and became a registered nurse. She is known throughout her career for her compassion and dedication to her profession.

Lorie had many other passions, but the two she was most known for were her love for arts and crafts, which allowed her to express her creativity, and her love she showed for animals. She loved all of them, but what she was most proud of was training her service dog. Her warmth and kindness were reflected in the loving care she provided to those around her.

Lorie lived life to the fullest and was willing to make changes in her life and experience new things, which took her into many different areas to live and enjoy her life. She wanted to experience living in different places, which included New Mexico, California, and Utah, before returning to her roots in Idaho. Her move back to Kimberly symbolized her desire to reconnect with family and community, where she spent her remaining years surrounded by loved ones.

Lorie is survived by her mother; Jacque Cameron, of Kimberly, Idaho, her father; Melvin (Karma) Van Buren, of Twin Falls, Idaho and her brother; Brian (Mui Ung) Van Buren of Sulphur, Louisiana, her nieces; Kierstyn (Dakota) Hanson of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Kamillie (Jacob) Burgess of Nampa, Idaho, her boyfriend; Chino Ponce.

Lorie was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her stepfather; Kenneth Cameron.

Lorie leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, with special mentions including her friends and the staff of St. Luke's Doctors, who supported her in her journey.
