Macayla "Mac" Osterhout

October 25, 1995 — February 25, 2025

Twin Falls

Macayla "Mac" Miklyn Osterhout came into this world like a shining star in Twin Falls, Idaho, on October 25, 1995.

Macayla attended school in Twin Falls and graduated from Canyon Ridge High School in 2014. She then earned an associate's degree from the College of Southern Idaho. Macayla pursued education throughout her life, always eager to expand her knowledge and improve herself however she could.

Although Macayla never married, she found the love of her life in her daughter and mini-me, Gracelynn "Peanut" Few. They were two peas in a pod, never far from one another. Macayla proudly called her daughter her greatest accomplishment and her Saving Gracelynn.

In her free time, Macayla was a notorious bookworm. When her nose wasn't buried in a book, she was watching one of the beautiful sunsets she so adored (or taking a nap!) She also enjoyed listening to music and found peace in moments of hardship through the songs of her favorite artists.

Macayla was well known for her seemingly endless heart. She didn't have a mean bone in her body, and she lit up every room she walked into – usually late! Her witty sense of humor kept everyone around her laughing; even when she struggled, she worked hard to put smiles on the faces of the people she loved. Macayla always made time to help others, whether they needed a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on.

A perfect picture of Macayla is captured through the eyes of her sister and brother, Alyssa Romero and Izzac Osterhout.

Alyssa recalls that:

"Macayla had this incredible ability to make everything feel lighter, whether we were sharing quiet moments or laughing until we couldn't breathe. Her love and laughter always brought comfort, easing even the toughest times. Losing her doesn't make sense, and I know that will never change.

She had a unique way of seeing the world, always finding beauty in the simplest moments, whether it was a sunset, nature, the feeling of being in the water, a song, or a shared laugh with those she loved.

Her light touched everyone around her, inspiring us to see the good in ourselves and in others.

Even though she's no longer here, Macayla's spirit lives on through her daughter. The joy, love, and light she brought into this world will continue just as she would have wanted.

I love you forever, Macayla. Love, your sissy."

When thinking of his sister, Izzac writes:

“Macayla was the sweetest soul you would ever meet. I truly believe her purpose on Earth was to help others because that’s what she did. No matter the battles she was battling, she always made time to help others.

For as long as I can remember, it was me and her; she was my right hand through my life. Believe me, we would go round and round as kids, but at the end of the day, it was HER and I. She always knew when something was wrong and how to make it better. She had the most beautiful smile to match her personality, and on top of that, she had her intelligence; she had a thing for learning, and she was good at it.

I don’t know that it will ever feel “normal” again. I thought I had life all figured out until we lost you. I LOVE YOU KK.”

Macayla's family would like to extend special thanks to everyone who has reached out with flowers and donations. Above all, they will cherish the stories and memories of Macayla that have been shared with them in the years to come.

Macayla is preceded in death by her cousin Bubba (John) Cantu and Gracelynn's father, Daddy Jeff Few.

Macayla is survived by her mother, Cathy Osterhout; Papa John (Gloria) Cantu; Mama Barbara Cantu; siblings Alyssa Romero and Izzac (Donnin) Osterhout; nieces Jeslynn Cruz and Sophia Cruz; nephew Kyesin Osterhout; and most of all, a piece of Macayla continues to change the world through her beloved daughter, Gracelynn "Peanut" Few.

"This is not goodbye, baby girl, but until I get to hug you, kiss your face, and see you again. I love you the most." – Mama Bear
