Michael J. Leeds

May 2, 1938 — November 20, 2022

Michael “Mike” John Leeds Buhl, Idaho 1938 - 2022 Mike passed peacefully on Sunday 11/20/2022 with loved ones at his bedside at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. He died from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Michael was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on 5/2/1938 to Katherine (Boone) Loving and William Leeds of Twin Falls, Idaho. He was lovingly eccentric and did not hesitate to share his wit and sometimes unconventional, dry humor. Mike grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho where he spent a great deal of time playing and working on his aunt Julie and uncle Oren’s farm. He graduated from Twin Falls High School and then attended the College of Idaho. He remained in contact with friends from high school and college. He also resided in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California. His intelligence and organizational skills allowed him to pursue a career as a court reporter and as an employee of the United States Postal Service. He also had mechanical talent which he used during his hobby of restoring old cars. Mike struggled at times with the disease of alcoholism and addiction. During his times of recovery, he found great solace and peace with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous. At Mikes last residence in Buhl, Idaho he enjoyed his farm and flower gardens with many beloved pet dogs and cats. He loved the outdoors and hiking in the mountains of Idaho. Another of his great loves was playing violin. He was a member of the Magic Valley Symphony where he played for and befriended Ted Hadley. Ted and Mike enjoyed hours together playing piano/violin duets. Mike also taught private violin lessons. One of his students who became a good friend, Talon Stead, is forever grateful that Mike believed in him as person and his musical talent. Both Ted and Talon helped Mike during his last year when he was sometimes unable to care for himself. Mike was preceded in death by his brother Gregory Leeds, his mother Katherine (Boone) Loving and his father William Leeds, along with his aunt and uncle Juliet and Oren Boone. He is survived by his niece Collette Leeds Mahoney, and his nephews Matthew and Kelvin Leeds. A big shout out to the nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. At Mike’s request there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Magic Valley Symphony in honor of Michael Leeds.
