Michael Wilson Jr., age 59, passed away on March 5, 2026. Though he spent his later years in Twin Falls, Idaho, he was born in Fresno, California, and always felt that his true home was in Big Spring, Texas.
Michael was first and foremost a devoted husband, father, and proud “Papa.” He and his wife, Michelle Wilson, would have celebrated 30 years of marriage on August 10. Their life together was filled with love, family, and the everyday moments that meant the most.
Michael was incredibly proud of his daughters, Kaitlin Wilson and Sivana Wilson, whom he believed were two of the most amazing people in the world. Nothing brought him more joy than watching them grow and building a close bond with them over the years. His pride grew even bigger when he became a grandfather. His granddaughter, Everly, was truly the light of his life. She lovingly called him “Papa” and would come to him every morning for hugs. Some of their favorite moments were spent sitting together by the fireplace while he built a fire and the two of them chatted about whatever came to mind—simple conversations that meant everything.
Michael had a deep love for animals, and they seemed to love him just as much. While he could come across as a little gruff to those who didn’t know him well, those closest to him knew he had an incredibly soft heart—especially when it came to his daughters, his granddaughter, and animals. He was the kind of father and grandfather who struggled to ever say no to the people he loved most.
He loved competition, especially when it meant challenging himself. In recent years he enjoyed playing pool and golfing, always trying to improve his own game. Earlier in life, he was a passionate softball player who loved the sport and the camaraderie that came with it.
Michael was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. Whether they were winning or losing, he watched with dedication—though he admittedly yelled a little louder at the television when they lost.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Judy Purser and Michael Wilson Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Wilson; his daughters, Kaitlin Wilson and Sivana Wilson; his beloved granddaughter, Everly; his sister, Julie; his brother, Raymond; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
He will be remembered as a true friend, a loving father, a proud Papa, and a devoted husband. His family and friends will carry forward the memories of his humor, his loyalty, and the quiet ways he showed his love every day.
A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Michael’s life will be announced at a later date.
