Philip “Phil” James Bolyard, 74, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of October 6, 2025. Phil was born on February 14, 1951, to Walter “Walt” James Bolyard and Colleen Albertson Bolyard. The oldest of 3 children, Phil, resided in Twin Falls his entire life. Phil was a humble, kind, and caring man and had a heart of gold – he would go out of his way to help anyone, however he could.
Phil married his high school sweetheart, Vickie Rae Hine, on July 12, 1971. Shortly after getting married, they purchased a house on the south side of Twin Falls and lived there ever since, making many cherished memories in 54 plus happy years together. Phil and Vickie were blessed with a son, Chase James, in September of 1982.
Phil had a variety of jobs over the years, including running his own business doing woodworking, managing OK Tire on Kimberly Road, and, in the later part of his career, working at Dart Container. But the job Phil cherished most was being Grandpa to his 4 grandchildren, and boy was he good at it.
Phil was a family man and loved spending time with his in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and grand-nieces and nephews. He always appreciated a good joke and almost never met a cookie he didn’t like. Phil loved the mountains and spending time camping, riding the side-by-side with Vickie, throwing horseshoes, sharing stories, and playing guitar around the campfire. Many memories were also made making Dutch Oven meals while camping with “brothers” Tim, Pete, and Elmer, and during the family’s annual outing to get mother-in-law “Mom” Georgene’s 17-foot-tall Christmas trees. Phil also loved to hunt in his younger years and liked to cast a line whenever the opportunity arose.
At the request of his niece Karamie in 2006, Phil became an ordained minister and performed several wedding ceremonies for family members over the years. One of those was when his son Chase married Sarah in 2013, on Phil and Vickie’s wedding anniversary.
Phil was baptized by his brother-in-law, Tim Hine, alongside his son Chase in August of 2015 in the South Fork of the Boise River near one of the family’s favorite camp spots. In his later years, he grew in his relationship with the Lord and gained many more cherished friends through attending church at The River in Twin Falls.
Phil is survived by his wife; Vickie, mother-in-law; Georgene Mason, sisters; Renet (Marty) Miller and Julia (Tim) Friesen, son; Chase (Sarah) Bolyard, grandchildren; Alyssa, Hailey, Colton and Carter, brothers-in-law; Tim (Debbie) Hine, Gregory “Pete” (Melanie) Hine, Elmer (Pennie) Freeman, uncle; Pete (Judy) Albertson, aunt; Nola Tippetts; and more cousins, nieces and nephews than you could shake a stick at (one of his favorite sayings).
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, father-in-law; Nubern “Bud” Mason, great uncle; Robert “Bob” Rigdon, and niece; Brianne Hine.
If you could ask him if he thought he lived a good life, he would have jokingly replied, “Ya think?” (another of his favorite sayings) with a smile on his face. He will be forever missed.
