Richard McIlvain Geer

April 7, 1954 — June 26, 2025

Twin Falls

It is with both sadness and a smile that we announce the passing of Richard ‘Mac’ McIlvain Geer, a man whose charm and humor could brighten any room. Mac had a knack for making people laugh—whether through his witty jokes or his infectious enthusiasm for a good time, he was the kind of person you just couldn’t forget (and wouldn’t want to!).

Mac’s life was often centered around having fun with friends and family while enjoying the great outdoors. In his younger years he loved to hunt and fish with his family. He later took up golf and spent his summer days teeing off with precision (or trying to). Mac’s golf game was certainly a work in progress, and anyone who joined him on the course was guaranteed more laughs than birdies. Camping trips with Mac were somehow always an adventure. Whether in the camper by a lazy river, or at the hunting camp on Black Pine, there always seemed to be tales of “clumsiness” around the campfire.

Mac was a connoisseur of food and spirits with a playful twist. He loved a fine meal but wasn’t above a cheeseburger and fries. He often joked that his parents taught him to eat whatever was put in front of him, a trait that was evident every time he meticulously studied the menu for the perfect meal. Every dinner with Mac was an event, equal parts gourmet delight and comedy show, rarely leaving out dessert!

Above all, Mac was a people magnet. His warmth, humor, and unshakeable ability to find the fun in every situation ensured that those who met him remembered him fondly. He had this uncanny ability to make strangers feel like lifelong friends—a trait that made him truly one of a kind.

Richard ‘Mac’ McIlvain Geer’s presence in our lives was the gift that kept on giving. He’ll be deeply missed by his children, Ryan (Amanda) Geer, Alysia (Chad) Beebe, and Kevin Geer, his brothers Bob Geer and Jim Geer, his grandchildren McKayla (Daniel), Parker, Marleigh, Zoey and Braydee, and his great-grandson Jet. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the jokes, the shared adventures, and the lessons he taught us about living life with joy, laughter, and a good glass of wine. Mac, we’re sure you’re already cracking jokes up there and keeping the angels in stitches. You will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

A remembrance of life with family and friends will be held at a later date to be announced.
