Roberta Mader

September 18, 1935 — July 4, 2021

Roberta June Allen Mader, died suddenly on July 4, 2021 at Heritage Memory Care unit at the age of 85. Roberta was born on September 18, 1935 in Fairfield, Idaho to Charles and Marion Allen. She grew up in the Magic Valley, attending elementary school in Gooding and graduating from Wendell High School in 1953. She also earned a degree in Practical Business Administration in 1954. Roberta was a believer and attended many different churches in Twin Falls. In her earlier years, she would help out with Vacation Bible School. A certificate of faithful service was found with her papers, demonstrating her help and commitment. Roberta married Arnold Schmalenberger. To this union three children were born, Jody 1960, Jesse 1962, Judy (Dusty) 1964. They were divorced in 1979. She did the best she could to raise the children, taking on jobs such as babysitting, motel work and working at Birdie’s Chicken Farm. Roberta loved animals and had several cats over the years. After the children were raised, Roberta became a “Free Soul ” You would often times see her wandering the town. The Post Office, the Depot Grill and Sav Mor Drug were some of her favorite hangouts. During her freedom, she met Arthur Mader who felt she shouldn’t “wander” her whole life. Art and Roberta were married on February 3, 1988. They were married until Art’s death in March 2014. Roberta was struck by a car in December, 1995 and things were just never the same. She developed Parkinson’s and dementia and spent her final years in Heritage Assisted Living Memory Care. I believe dementia was God’s way of protecting her from the tragedies in her life. Her daughter, Dusty passed away in 2011. Her daughter, Jodi passed away in 2019. Both taken Too Soon. Roberta is survived by her son, Jesse Schmalenberger of Carson City, Nevada. Two grandchildren, Kallie (Joe) Paschall of Gates, Oregon; and Connor (Katie) Morze of Reno, Nevada. Also surviving three great grandsons, Jacob and Elijah Paschall and Braden Morze; and one great granddaughter, Riley Morze. Graveside Funeral Services will be held for Roberta, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 9 AM at the Jerome Cemetery, Jerome Idaho. All services and arrangements are under the direction of Parke’s Magic Valley Home in Twin Falls Idaho.
