Tom Koizumi, 92, of Heyburn, Idaho, passed away February 25, 2025, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was born on April 25, 1932, the youngest of seven children to Ekiichi and Kayo Koizumi in Sparks, Nevada. Tom graduated from Sparks High School in 1950 and was a member of the 1948 Nevada State high school football championship team. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno, but was interrupted to serve in the Korean War. Upon his return, he graduated from UNR in 1959 with a degree in chemical engineering. He worked for Aerojet General for many years and then moved on to civil service for the United States Airforce retiring after 20 years.
Tom was married from 1962 to 1965, having one son, Thomas. He was an avid golfer, belonging to many golf clubs and traveling to many golfing resorts, Hawaii being a favorite. He loved sports of all kinds and was a diehard San Francisco 49er fan.
Tom, although the youngest of all his siblings, was the family conduit for keeping in touch with the family. He would share the goings on with family because time and distance had separated the family across the United States and Japan. Everyone had favorite memories of Tom, and often it was his smile.
He is survived by his son Thomas and family, which includes grand and great-grandchildren, and also nieces and nephews.
As per Tom’s wishes, he did not want a service. Instead, just think about his smile and smile yourself.
