Vanessa Maria Torres

December 3, 1990 — November 8, 2025

Twin Falls

Vanessa Maria Torres was introduced to this world on December 3, 1990. She passed away into our loving Lord’s arms on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 34 in her group home, surrounded by those who loved and served her the most…family, friends, and caregivers.

From the day she was born, little did anyone know how special this small but frail gift would be and how God was to use her and HIS instrument to touch and teach everyone around her about God’s love, mercy, grace, and compassion, and instill that in everyone she came in contact with that they may serve others well as God intended.

Vanessa did not have the opportunity to grow up like most people do. Because of her condition, she was not able to pursue an educational degree, get a job, become a wife, or a mother. Instead, she was destined to not only be a sister in real life, but a sister or daughter to others. God had a different plan and placed her in the hands of people who would have the potential to learn and grow in unconditional, loving care for her, providing the services she needed to live out her life here in this world with dignity and value.

Because she was nonverbal, she often had to resort to other means in order to communicate with others. Since she was very young, we both shared a very deep connection to music and would listen to it constantly. The following are some thoughts from her caregivers who spend the most time with her each and every day.

Vanessa was such a beautiful soul, and we were blessed to have her in our lives. She brought so much joy to those around her and taught us all so much. I will miss your grabbing and pulling on us to let us know you needed something, your humming, and your jamming out to music. But most of all, I will miss seeing your precious face. So thankful to have met this special young lady, and she will forever hold a special place in my heart----Heather

She always brightened up the room every time she was in it. Every time her music came on, she made everyone know it was her favorite. If you were her favorite, she made it known. We are all going to miss you, and we all loved you ever since you came to WDB. We are all going to miss the car rides we would have with you. No one would replace the bond we created. I’m going to miss you in my space, going to miss you grabbing my keys…letting us know it is time to go. ---Jazmia

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff and caregivers at WDB Inc., Innovative Healthcare Concepts TSC services, A Bridge Home Hospice, and Wilks Funeral Home for their support and services.

To the caregivers (we know there were others), we can’t say it enough times…thank you for caring for our daughter and for treating her in a way that she mattered… because she did matter… to so many.

So, on behalf of my daughter Vanessa and from all of US many thanks and warm feelings to all of you…fair winds and calm seas on your journey home baby girl.
