Walter D. Richter, 65, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on January 20, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was born on August 22, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Mary and Virgil Richter. Walter was the youngest of 7 children.
Walter may be described as a devoted husband, skilled diesel mechanic, and passionate woodworker. Walter lived a life rich with experiences and accomplishments that reflected his dedication to family.
Walter spent most of his life honing his craft as a diesel mechanic, where his expertise and commitment made him a cherished member of his community. His military service in the Navy for nine years. He was proud of his service in the Navy where it took him all over the world, including being stationed in Antarctica.
Walter was an accomplished woodworker, turning his creative passion into beautiful projects. He had a particular enthusiasm for Christmas, ensuring that each holiday season was filled with joy and festivity, and making sure his home had Christmas everywhere inside and out.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lurenda Richter, as well as his brother George Caskey and sisters Nancy Thompson and Lois Hall.
Walter was preceded in death by his brother Virgil Richter, sister Katherine Wells Adele Jarvis, and his parents, Virgil and Mary Richter.
Walter’s Committal Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 East Elm Street, Buhl, Idaho 83316.
