It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Levi Coates Jr. Born on May 6, 1950, William departed this life on May 19, 2025.
William began his remarkable career as an Air Force air traffic controlman in 1969. After Vietnam, William completed his welding certification from the College of Southern Idaho in 1976. His industrious drive led him to various roles at companies, including Idaho Metal Fab and Clark Engineering. Smith Energy and America Fracmaster. He then decided to return home to be a Dairyman and start a Family. After making a full circle, he returned to Idaho Metal Fab in 1995 and concluded at R&R Welding, from where he retired in 2017.
In 1990, William married his beloved Julie. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the shared joy of raising their two sons. His family was his greatest accomplishment and source of pride. And although Julie preceded him in death, their love story remains a treasured part of his legacy.
William had a deep love for sports and was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Dodgers. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and lifelong friends, where he showed his warm and joyful nature that was otherwise hidden. William will forever be known for his hardworking nature, his dedication as a father, and as a loving family man.
He is survived by his two sons, Kelly (Trisha) Coates and Taylor (Bailey) Coates. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike Coates (Sandie), his sisters Melanie Erickson and Merilee (Micheal) Jacobs, and his treasured grandchildren, Madison Bates and Braeden Coates.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Julie Coates, his parents, William Coates Sr. and Wanda Coates, his brother, James Coates, and his nephews, Chase and Bryan Coates.
