William LaVern Evans

November 15, 1930 — December 1, 2023

William (Bill) Evans, 93, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.

Bill was born, on November 15, 1930, in Cabot, Arkansas, to parents William Owen Evans and Hazel Walpole Evans. Bill was the oldest of 10 children, Jim (Shirley) Evans from Mayflower, AR, Charles (Vonneice) Evans from Mayflower, AR, John (Diane) Evans from Conway, AR, and Sherry (Floyd) Jerrell from Bee Branch, AR. He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Carol Shaw, Wanda Cox, I’one Mitchell, Freda Marlene Evans, and Samuel Eugene Evans.

Bill served 4 years in the US Air Force in North Africa. Bill Married Catherine Poston and had three daughters, Lynn Schwartz (Twin Falls, ID), Holly Evans (Waverly, Washington), and Suzanne Evans (Boise, ID). Bill worked for Idaho Power on all the Hells Canyon Hydro projects, Jim Bridger Coal Fired Plant in Wyoming, ten years with the Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, Rapid Transit Project and then the Alaska Pipeline. Bill was then divorced and came back to work for Idaho Power as a Concrete Inspector, building the American Falls Dam.

In 1977, Bill met Jan Belin, married in 1977 and has 3 stepchildren, Darren Belin (Cheryl) of Meridian, ID, Traci (Bob) Adams of Stockton, CA, and Leland (Julie) Belin of Kimberly, ID. They then transferred back to work on the Hells Canyon Hydro Projects.

Bill is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day – Saints and served in many service positions for the Ward and the Stake. Bill also served for 8 years in the Boise Idaho Temple.

Bill has 14 grandchildren, and eight and ½ great grandchildren. Bill loved to do volunteer work and serving others but didn’t want to be noticed while doing it. In 2008, he received the Jefferson Award for volunteer service and was honored in Washington DC. His motto was “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Bill’s greatest joy was his family. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends.
