Cecil Darrell Nice

Cecil Darrell Nice 1948 - 2012 Filer, Idaho Cecil Darrell Nice was born August 10, 1948 in Twin Falls,Idaho to Herman and Ethel Nice. He grewup in Filer, Idaho with siblings Jerry, Betty, Albert, Russell, Jim, Jean, Virginia, and Tony. Cecil graduated from Filer High School in 1967. On Friday, September 13, 1968 he married his high schoolsweetheart, Linda Cox, daughter of J.O. and Juanita Cox of Kimberly,Idaho. Cecil and Linda were introducedto each other by Cecil's lifelong best friend and fishing buddy, BillLamp. Cecil and Linda had two sons,Travis (Maxine) and Byron (Jackie). They have 8 grandchildren, the pride and joy of their lives: Chase (Alyssa), Cody, Mariah, Ciara, Alyssia,Chance, Josiah, and Alayna Nice. Cecil found God through Linda and her loving family. He worked passionately for the Church of Christ in Buhl, Idaho as a teacher, song leader, deacon and minister focusing on growth and encouragement of the youth. Cecil attended Magic Valley Christian College in Albion, Idaho and completed his teaching degree at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho in 1972. Cecil chose to return to his home town of Filer to teach. He and Linda purchased their home on Yakima Avenue in 1975. Known as "Mr.Nice" by his students, he taught the sixth grade for 36 years and retired in 2008. He was also the Filer School District Driver's Education Instructor from 1979 to 2009 and continued administering driver testing for the state of Idaho until 2012. Cecil served his country, retiring as Sergeant First Class from the Army Reserves in 1995 after 23 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ethel Nice of Filer, ID, and brothers Jerry and Russell Nice of Twin Falls, ID. He was also preceded in death by his beloved father-in-law J.O. Cox. Funeral Services for Cecil will be held Sunday, September 9,2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Filer Middle School, 299 HWY 30, Filer, Idaho. Interment will be held Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Twin Falls. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Parke's MagicValley Funeral Home 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho.
