Terrance “Terry” David Obenchain passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center at the age of 69.

Terry was born December 7, 1954 to the late Daniel Obenchain and Shirley Marie Orchard in Salt Lake City Utah. Although the youngest of four, Terry had a major role in taking care of his mother before she passed when he was only 13 years old. It was at that time when Terry moved in with his father and step mother Mary, whom he grew very close with and loved him as her own. She never let his adulthood stop her from referring to him as “her baby” for as long as she lived.

After settling in Idaho, Terry graduated from Twin Falls High School and at 18 years old he decided to join the United States Military. At first interested in the Navy, after a pot of coffee and a recruiting speech, he decided to become a Marine. He had an amazing career as an engineer in the Marine Corp, working on planes, trucks, tanks and more. He was recruited to be a bodyguard for a few well known officers such as Mad Dog Madis and Admiral Stansfield Turner. Terry spent time in Italy, Okinawa, and many other countries before retiring in 1993 as Gunnery Sergeant. Terry’s mechanical experience in the military set him up for another 20 years as a diesel mechanic at Twin Falls Truck and Equipment once retired, a career he enjoyed but his time as a Marine is what gave him his greatest pride to have served his country.

Preceding his retirement and moving back to Twin Falls, Terry met his wife Jessica in 1997. Up to this point in his life Terry was always a tough Marine and casanova on the outside, but Jessica brought out his soft side and he fell hard for her. They were married in Twin Falls on April 15, 2004 with a small family gathering at the CourtHouse and a celebration preceding at their home with beautiful spring flowers in bloom.

In his last 20 years, Terry focused on rebuilding the relationships with his children and family. He was proud of them all and the amazing adults they have all become. He had great joy in watching his grandchildren grow and was happiest when spending time with them. Terry loved spending time with his family and made all his friends feel like family. You could find him on any given morning having breakfast at T&T Cafe in Hansen where he was on a first name basis with the entire staff, a common occurrence for him as he could make friends anywhere he went. He loved spending time on the water and taking out his side by side especially on annual trips to Jarbidge, NV. Terry was the first to arrive at a get together and among the last to leave, soaking up every minute with the ones he loved.

Terry’s time on this earth will be cherished and his memory will live on through his wife, Jessica; his three older siblings, sister Kathy (Hal) Fobes, brothers Tom Obenchain and Tim (Shawna) Obenchain; his daughters Lori (Troy) Olds and Korey (Dennis) Reynick and sons Daniel (Kristen) Bulldawg Obenchain and Thomas Obenchain, 14 Grandchildren, 6 bonus grandkids (blended families) and 2 great grand babies. As well as a community of close friends and acquaintances. Terry will be met with his parents Daniel (Mary) Obenchain and Shirley Marie Orchard, along with his beloved animals, Jasmine, Boones, Brewski, Indigo, Meerkat, and Lucifer “Lucky”.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11 AM at Wilks Magic Valley Funeral Home located at 2551 Kimberly Rd, Twin Falls, ID 83301.
